On Friday, February 22, 2020, the Iowa Senate passed SB 1318, known as the Idaho Fair Chance Employment Act. Idaho’s Ban the Box bill heads to the Speaker of the House for a committee assignment. The prospective Ban the Box law prohibits employers from inquiring into applicant conviction history until after extending a conditional employment offer. The bill also contains critical guidelines for appropriately considering a conviction record.
Previously, the bill had garnered unanimous support from the Senate Judiciary Committee. Idaho’s Ban the Box legislation is a key piece of legislation that must become law in 2020.
